As we all know, for the past week or so, there has been flash foolds occuring in Singapore after heavy downpours, which caused plenty of damages, such as the losses made by stores on the basement level at Orchard road, fallen trees and many more. Here is an article on one of these flash floods, which took place on June 25: http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_545466.html
Although there were no casualities from these flash floods, it still inflicted lots of damages, like the S$6million payout to the shopowners in Orchard road who were affected by the floods. Heavy traffic was caused during peak hours, with visibility very low making driving conditions extremely tricky. This caused many office workers to be late for work, causing their company's productivity to drop for that period. The floods caused alot of inconvenience for workers, shopper alike as all operations stopped during the floods. I feel that these floods, which caused the worst case of flooding in Orchard Road since 1984, is caused by a clogged sewage system, most likely containing debris like fallen leaves or twigs, and maybe litter. But no matter what is the reason, a solution has to be come up with so as to prevent further flooding and inconveniences.
